abstract | In the process, a) the particulate olefinic polymer is irradiated at a temperature of 10 to 85 degC with high energy ionizing radiation to produce local radicals, b) the irradiated particulate olefinic polymer is heated to a temperature of up to 3 minutes. 100 DEG C. with 5 to 80% by weight, based on the total weight of the olefinic polymer and the vinyl monomer used, at least one free radical polymerizable vinyl monomer, c) deactivating all free radicals in the obtained graft olefin polymer mass simultaneously or sequentially and removing any unreacted vinyl monomer from the mass, wherein the polymerized olefinic particulate polymer selected from the group consisting of homopolymers and random copolymers of propylene and 1-butene and impact modified copolymers of propylene and 1-butene is maintained in the neoxide during said steps at least until the deactivation of the remaining free radicals is complete |
