titleOfInvention | A method for purifying a gas containing nitric oxide |
abstract | The solution is a process for purifying nitric oxide-containing gas, preferably useful for purifying flue gases from fossil fuel sulfur combustion, kitchen or municipal waste incineration or biomass combustion, in which the gas is contacted with an alkali metal compound comprising hydrated sodium carbonate. The process consists in introducing oxygen and sulfur dioxide into the gas while maintaining a gas temperature of 320 to 500 K, the hydrated sodium carbonate being selected from the group consisting of sodium carbonate hydrates, a mixture of sodium carbonate hydrates and a mixture of at least one sodium carbonate hydrate. with anhydrous sodium carbonate, and corresponds to the theoretical formula Na.sub.2.n.CO.sub.3.n..nH.sub.2.nO, in which (n) is an integer or fraction between 0,5 and 10, oxygen and sulfur dioxide are introduced into the gas in amounts corresponding to a molar ratio of O.sub.2.n./NO higher than 2.5 and a molar ratio of SO.sub.2.n./NO higher than 0.1, and gas contact |
