titleOfInvention A method of purifying a mixture of water and epsilon-caprolactam
abstract The process for purifying .epsilon.-caprolactam, which comprises hydrogenating a mixture of water and .epsilon.-caprolactam with hydrogen contained in the mixture in the presence of a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst, first contacting a mixture of water and .epsilon.-caprolactam with hydrogen gas, whereupon hydrogen dissolves .epsilon.-caprolactam and water in this mixture, and then the hydrogen-containing mixture is contacted with the hydrogenation catalyst, wherein 90 to 100% of the hydrogen present during the hydrogenation is dissolved in the water / .epsilon.-caprolactam mixture.
