A method for producing cefriaxone disodium hemiheptahydrate |
abstract |
A new and improved process for producing the ceftriaxone disodium hemiheptahydrate of formula I wherein the disodium salt is 7-amino-3- (2,5-dihydro-6-hydroxy-2-methyl-5-oxo-as-triazine-3-yl) thio / methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid is reacted with a reactive derivative of 2- (2-aminothiazol-4-yl) -2-syn-methoxyiminoacetic acid, such as 2-benzothiazolyl-thioester, in aqueous solution and with the desirability of an inert organic solvent such as acetone at a temperature between about 0 to about 40 ° C, after which the desired compound is isolated in a very pure form and a high total yield. Ceftriachon is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic for parenteral use and a valuable agent for the treatment of infections. |
