abstract | A method for reducing plaque formation in the polymerization of alpha-olefins in a low pressure fluidized bed reactor using a titanium or vanadium catalyst simultaneously with alkyl aluminum cocatalysts, introducing water simultaneously with the inert gas into the reactor at the plaque formation site such that the inert gas is conducted under pressure at a controlled flow rate through a temperature-controlled water-containing reservoir, wherein the inert gas is enriched with water vapor and the mixture of water vapor and inert gas is fed to the reactor, optionally together with the alpha-olefins being polymerized. The flow rate of water vapor-enriched alpha-olefins and the water temperature in the reservoir are controlled according to the electrostatic conditions in the reactor.nŕ |
