abstract The present invention relates to therapeutically useful 4-oxo-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]-pyrimidines of general formula (I) and/or formula (II), wherein R means C1-6alkyl, C3-6alkenyl, C3-6alkynyl, C3-7cycloalkyl, C1-4alkoxycarbonyl group or C7-8aralkyl group, optionally substituted by one or more halogen atom(s), or by nitro-group, R<1> stands for hydrogen atom or a C1-4alkyl group, and salts thereof, further to a process for their preparation, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. These new compounds may be therapeutically useful first of all as gastroprotectives in the treatment and prevention of ulcer.
