abstract Derivatives of arylsulfonylaminohydroxamic acidnof Formula I are inhibitors of matrix metalloprotein orntumor necrosis factor production and are useful in treatmentnconditions selected from arthritis, cancer,ntissue ulceration, restenosis, periodontal disease,nepidermolysis bullosa, scleritis and other diseasesncharacterized by the activity of matrix metalloproteinase as well asnAIDS, sepsis, septic shock and other diseases involving productionnTNF. In addition, these compounds can be used in the followingncombination therapy with standard non-steroidal therapiesnanti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and analgesics for treatmentnarthritis and further in combination with cytotoxic drugs such asnadriamycin, daunomycin, cis-platinum, etoposide, taxol, taxotere andnalkaloids such as vincristine in the treatment of cancer.
