abstract | The present invention relates to hydrophobized ester derivatives of hyaluronic acid containing alkylaryl or alkylheteroaryl substituents of the general formula I wherein R 1 is H or a table thereof. -CO (CH.sub.2.n) C.sub.6.nHsub.4-p .nRsup.5.n.or -CO-C.sub.6.nHsub.4-p .nO (CH.sub.2.n.), Sub.ynCH.sub.3.n., Or -CO- (CH.sub.2.n.). Sub.znNC.sub.12.nHsub. 8.n. where R.sup.5 is H or CH.sub.3; x is an integer ranging from 4 to 21, preferably from 4 to 15, or y is an integer from 8 to 21, preferably from 8 to 15, or z is an integer from 3 to 16, preferably from 7 to 11, most preferably from 10 to ; and - (CH.sub.2.n.) sub.x-.n.or - (CH.sub.2.n.) sub.y-.n.or - (CH.sub.2.n is a linear saturated or unsaturated part of the chain, wherein at least one repeating unit is one or more or -CO (CH.sub.2.) sub.xnCsub.6. nHsub.4.n..sub.-p .nRsup.5.n.or -CO-C.sub.6.nHsub.4-p .nO (CH.sub.2.n.) sub or -CO- (CH.sub.2.n.) sub.NC.sub.12.nHsub.8.n; R 3 is H or R 5 is 2; and wherein n is an integer ranging from 1 to 495 dimers. The invention further relates to a process for their preparation and their use for encapsulation of biologically active water-insoluble aromatics to form a nanomicellar composition which is then used for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. |
