titleOfInvention | A method for removing contaminants and nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from wastewater and a root purification plant to perform this method |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for removing contaminants and nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from wastewater with the aid of plants, wherein ornamental plants are used as purification plants selected from a group of plants suitable for cutting, including in particular Chinese aster (Callistephus chinensis), dahlia (Dahlia). sp.), canna indica, cymbidium sp., paphiopedilum sp., rose sp., chrysanthemum, iris, sunflower (Helianthus annus ), African cone (Zantedeschia aethiopica), Kingfisher (Strelitia reginae), Tussock (Anturium sp.) and Balcony Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum), whose root system allows the wastewater to be cleaned for 2-3 weeks. The treatment plant consists of an isolated tank (1, 11) filled with a granular substrate (17) in which the plants are planted and properly rooted with a surface density corresponding to at most their natural surface density, and has a contaminated water inlet (16) and purified water outlet (15) preferably fitted with a pump (3). |
