titleOfInvention | A method of passivating the surface of geopolymers and alkali activated materials |
abstract | A method of passivating the surface of geopolymeric and alkaline activated materials prepared using sodium, potassium, lithium or mixed hydroxide or aqueous immersion by immersing them in or exposing them to hydrofluoric acid vapors or salts or hexafluorosilicic acid or salts thereof is described. An insoluble layer is formed on the surface of the material, which increases water resistance, reduces the susceptibility to efflorescence and hygroscopicity, reduces alkaline pH as well as leachability of substances incorporated into the material structure. |
