abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of ethanedinitrile (CN) by the oxidation of HCN hydrogen cyanide, whereby hydrogen cyanide is oxidized on the Fe.sup.m + .n. / Cu.sup.n +. 2 or 3, n optionally in the presence of a bidentate oxygen or nitrogen ligand immobilized on a polymeric organic cation exchanger, in an organic solvent or in its homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture with water, at a temperature of 5 degC to 65 degC, using an oxidation system consisting of an oxygenated oxidizing agent selected from the group consisting of oxygen, air, hydrogen peroxide, or mono- or di-substituted alkyl or acyl derivatives thereof. |
