titleOfInvention Method for preparing alumina
abstract A process for the preparation of alumina characterized in that the reaction solution containing aluminum ions is in a concentration of 0.001 to 1 mol / sec. and the occlusion of the OH radical is irradiated by UV radiation of a mercury lamp with a radiant power of 40 to 160 W or accelerated electrons with an energy in the range of 1 to 6 MeV at a dose of 40 to 140 kGy to form a transparent to white turbid gel which is separated from the solution by ultrafiltration after thorough washing with water and ethanol, the gel, compressed by the filtration process, is dried at a temperature of up to 100 degC to form a white, powdered material which is subsequently heat treated at temperatures of 500 to 1000 degC to obtain the gamma-Al.sub .2.nOsub.3.n. and at temperatures above 1000 degC to achieve a modification of .alpha.-Al.sub.2.
