Articular implant, especially the knee joint |
abstract |
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an articular implant, particularly a knee joint, consisting of a femoral portion, an insert, and a tibial portion. The femoral portion of the knee replacement is formed by a pinch (1) attachable to the distal portion of the femur (2), with trimming, offset and smoothed distal portions of the femur (2) of the patient being used as the reference surface for the inner and outer shape of the shell (1). respects the overall curvature of the knee joint. The outer transverse and posterior dimensions of the shell (1) correspond to the particular knee joint of the patient. The shell (1) may be provided on its inner side with ribs (3) positioned in transverse and longitudinal directions engaging grooves operatively formed in the distal portion of the patient's femur (2). The shell (1) is preferably made of a biocompatible material. |
