abstract The process for preparing 5- [2-cyclopropyl-1- (2-fluorophenyl) -2-oxoethyl] -4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno [3,2-c] pyridin-2-yl acetate of formula I or a salt thereof having wherein the compound of formula (III), which is in the form of a salt with arenesulfonic acid, is reacted with a compound of formula (XV) wherein Y is: chloro, bromo, or an OR group, wherein R is 4. The alkanesulfonic or arenesulfonic acid group, in the organic solvent in the presence of an inorganic base or an organic base, after addition of an acetylating agent and an organic base to the reaction mixture, yields a compound of formula I which crystallizes from the reaction mixture upon addition of the co-solvent. it is converted to the salt by reaction with an organic or inorganic acid in a suitable solvent.
