abstract | The aqueous microdispersion contains copolymer microparticles which have been prepared by copolymerizing 2- [3- (2H-benzotriazol-2-yl) -4-hydroxyphenyl] ethyl methacrylate (Formula I) with a smaller amount of vinyl-type comonomer and crosslinking component. A microdispersion of a particle size of less than 300 nanometers is prepared by grinding the copolymer in a bead mill in the presence of sulfated oxethylated fatty alcohol and is intended to be used as a UV filter in photoprotective cosmetic formulations. Photoprotective creams containing the microdispersion of the benzotriazole copolymer have a high efficiency in filtering ultraviolet light in both UVB and UVA regions of the solar spectrum. |
