titleOfInvention | Process for producing chlorides of chlorinated pyridine sulfonic acids |
abstract | The invention relates to a method of producing chloropyridine sulfonic acid chlorides of general formula (I) from hydroxypyridine sulfonic acids of general formula (II) by substituting the OH groups at the ring and the OH group of the acid group with a chlorinating agent. A mixture of phosphorus trichloride in an excess to a stoichiometric quantity and chlorine in a stoichiometric quantity to slightly less in relation to the hydroxypyridine sulfonic acid is used as the chlorinating agent. The chlorine is added to a mixture of hydroxypyridine sulfonic acid and phosphorus trichloride at temperatures of 70 to 90 DEG C. The mixture is heated to temperatures of 100 to 120 DEG C, the resulting phosphorus chloride oxide and optionally excess phosphorus trichloride are distilled off, the residue is dissolved in an organic solvent and the liquid phase is distilled under reduced pressure to obtain the chloropyridine sulfonic acid chloride. |
