titleOfInvention | Copolymers prepared by grafting polyolefins with fluorinated monomers |
abstract | Fluorine-containing copolymers whose main chain is an olefinic polymer are grafted to this backbone by one or more fluorinated monomer branches, optionally in combination with one or more non-fluorinated monomers, the olefinic polymers used may be C2.8a-olefin homopolymers and copolymers. As fluorinated monomers grafted on these olefinic polymers, free-radically polymerizing fluorinated monomers can be used, most often vinylidene fluoride, but also other fluoro derivatives of hydrocarbons, acrylates and methacrylates. Further described is a process for preparing such fluorine-containing graft copolymers. The copolymers have improved mechanical and surface properties and reduced oxygen and air moisture permeability compared to the starting olefinic polymers. |
