titleOfInvention A continuous process for the production of polyol and fatty acid polyesters
abstract A continuous process for the production of polyol polyesters is describednsolvent-free fatty acids in which the polyol which isncontains n esterifiable hydroxyl groups, whereinnn is greater than 4, the ester is a fatty esternacid which includes the first stage of the reaction providingna first stage reaction product having a quantitynunreacted polyol less than 0.50 percent by weight; andnthe degree of esterification of the reacted polyol in the reaction productnthe first stage is between 15 and 75 percent by weight, and the secondnthe degree of reaction, the second stage of the reaction using the reactionnthe product of the first stage and further esterification yields the reaction productnthe second stage product, the second stage being regulatednso that the degree of esterification of the polyol is preserved such that it is notnmore than 85 wt. esterified polyol moleculesnin the second stage reaction product is fully esterified;nto reduce the amount of n-y and lower in the second step of the reactionnpolyol esters to less than 1.0 percent by weightnthe weight of esterified polyol molecules, wherein n-y and lower polyol esters are at least partially cleavable in the gastrointestinal tract of a human.
