abstract | This method of preparing permanently porous and possibly functionalised copolymers of polystyrene by the subsequent chemical conversion of copolymers of styrene with cross-linking agents consists of the reaction of styrene copolymers, cross-linked with divinyl benzene, with tetrachloromethane in a ratio of 1:0.45 to 1:1 in the presence of a catalyst of the Friedel-Crafts type at a temperature of -20 to +30 degrees C for 1 to 72 hours in a medium of 1,2-dichloroethane, and the introduced reactive dichloromethylene groups may be hydrolysed or aminolysed which results in the introduction of functional groups into the polymer. |
