titleOfInvention METHOD FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF 17-ALPHA-ACETOXY-11 BITA- (4-N, N-DIMETHYLAMINOFINYL) - 19-NORPREGNA-4,9-DIENO-3,20-DIONIS
abstract The invention relates to a process for achieving 17α-acetoxy-11β- (4-N, N-dimethylaminophenyl) -19-norpregna-4,9-diene-3,20-dione. The method of the invention comprises: (a) crystallization of the semi-solvent isopropanol of 17α-acetoxy-11β- (4-N, N-dimethylaminophenyl) -19-norpregna-4,9-diene-3.20 -dione (VA-2914), by dissolving in isopropanol and subsequently crystallizing, (b) separating the crystals of the semi-solvent isopropanol of VA-2914, and (c) converting said semi-solvated isopropanol of VA-2914 to VA-2914. Compound VA-2914 is a steroid with anti-progestin and anti-glucocorticoid activity, which can be used in therapeutic gynecological and contraceptive indications and in the treatment of Cushing and glaucoma.
