titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE PURIFICATION OF JUICES USED IN MAGNESIUM ULFITE MG (HSO) 2 OR MAGNESIUM SULPHITE-MGSO TO SUGAR PRODUCTION BASED ON TREATMENT WITH BIS 3 AND MILK OF LIME-CA0H2
abstract The procedure for the purification of juices used in the production of sugar consisting of the treatment of the juice with magnesium bisulfite -Mg (HSO3) 2- or magnesium sulfite -MgSO3- and milk of lime -Ca (OH) 2-, which can be added the two reagents simultaneously or in successive additions thereof, in such a way that in one stage of the purification it has the juice PH6.5 -8.0 and that from this juice the filter cake is eliminated by sedimentation and so that in another later stage it has the juice PH 8-10 and that from that juice the filter cake is removed and that the PH of that filtered juice is adjusted to the final required value; Magnesium bisulfite -MG (HSO3) 2- or Magnesium sulfite -MGSO3- is added in different quantities depending on its quality, as well as the quality of the purified juice required, the addition being between 0.1 - 7g MGO / liter; magnesium bisulfite -Mg (HSO3) 2- or magnesium sulfite-MgSO3- is prepared by treating the suspension of powdered magnesium carbonate -MgCO3- or magnesium hydroxide -Mg (OH) 2- with the advantage of the latter which can be precipitated in saline liquors by the addition of calcium hydroxide -Ca (OH) 2.
