abstract The dry mix, especially for the production of acid-resistant silica-based putty, is designed for furnace lining. It consists of 30 to 60 parts by weight of natural quartz sand with a mean grain size of 0.12 to 0.29 mm, the acid resistance of which is at least 96%, from 20 to 60 parts by weight of ground silica sand with an average grain size of 50 to 70 microns or other silica raw materials with a SiO 2 content above 85 percent, for example silica with an acid resistance above 97 percent, from 2 to 10 parts by weight of a silicon drift with a mean grain size of 2 to 5 microns and from 2 to 6 parts by weight of a setting accelerator, for example sodium fluorosilicate.
