abstract Cpds. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new (where R1 is OH or NR4R5; R2 and R3 are each H, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or acyl, provided that when R2 is H, R1 is not NR4R5; R4 and R5 are each H, 1-8C alkyl aralkyl, aryl or heteroaryl; n is 1 or 2). Cpds. (I) are prepd. by reacting cpds. of formula (II) with cpds. of formula Ra-Rb (III). (where X is H or forms a bond with Y or Z; Z is H or forms a bond with X; Y is O, H or NR8R9; R7 is a gp. or atom easily separable as an anion, e.g. OH, halogen, R9-CO2- or NR2R31R8 and R9 are each H, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or acyl1Ra is H, OH, halogen, O, alkali or alkaline earth metal, or R10 -CO2-; R10 is H, alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, Rb is H, acyl, OH, complex metal hydride, NR2R3 or =CR11R12; R11 and R12 are each H alkyl, aralkyl or aryl). (I) have valuable pharmacological props., esp. antiinflammatory febrifuge, pain reducing and narcosis potentialising props. A typical cpd. is the amide of trans-2-benzylamino-N-benzyl-cyclohexane carboxylic acid.
