PURPOSE:To prepare a carcinostatic bleomycin derivative (NK 631) by culturing bleomycin-producing fungi belonging to Streptomyces genus in a medium containing N-[(S)-1'-phenylethyl)-1,3-diaminopropane. CONSTITUTION:Bleomycin-producing fungi belonging to Streptomyces genus, e.g. Streptomyces verticillus NK-68-144 (FERM-P No.4108) is cultured in a nutrient medium contaning N-[(S)-1'-phenylethyl]-1,3-diaminopropane, which is a precursor of the title compound, under aerobic condition, and the title conpound (NK 631) is separated from the medium. The concentration of the precursor in the medium is usually 0.2-2mg/ml, and pref. 1mg/ml. The NK-631 has remarkably low tendency of lung fibrosis compared with conventional bleomycins, while keeping high carcinostatic activity. |
