titleOfInvention 2- (2-Acetoxyethyl) -4-acetoxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one;
abstract The present invention provides 2- (2-acetoxyethyl) -4-acetoxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one and a process for its preparation.nIn the patent literature, the preparation of an intermediate and some of the compounds similar to those described in the present invention has been described without, however, specifying the physical properties and constants of the prepared substances (DE Pat. No. 417,975). The process of the said patent is based on the cyclopentanone-2-carboxylate of alkyl, whose potassium salt of alkyl is 2-bromoethanolacetate for 18 to 24 hours. The resulting 2-carbalkoxy-2- (2-acetoxyethyl) cyclopentenone is hydrolyzed and decarbolyzed in acid medium over a period of 14 to 48 hours until 2- (hydroxyethylcyclopentanone is finally isolated) which is then treated with acetic anhydride in the presence of acid. sulfuric or p-toluenesulfonic acid to give 1-acetoxy-2- (2-acetoxyethyl] -1-cyclopentene. The latter compound is collected by N-bromoacetamide and then converted to 2- (2-acetoxyethyl) in the presence of an organic base and an alkali metal carbonate ) -2-cyclopentenone is treated with N-bromosuccinimide and further with silver perchlorate in aqueous acetone to give 2- (2-acetoxyethyl) -4-hydroxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one which is isolated after chromatographic purification.ndy
