The present invention provides materials and methods for preventing, inhibiting, or reducing biofilm formation and biofilm infections, in particular, in the respiratory tract of a subject. The invention uses byproducts of the growth of beneficial microorganisms to improve the efficacy of biocidal substances in treating, disrupting, and/or preventing biofilms. Advantageously, the present invention is useful against antibiotic resistant bacterial strains, such as MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Helicobacter pylori, S. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and A. fumigatus. |
