TREATMENT OF COGNITIVE DISORDERS WITH CERTAIN ALFA-7 NICOTINIC ACID RECEPTORS IN COMBINATION WITH ACETILCOLINESTERASE INHIBITORS. |
abstract |
Nicotinic acetylcholine a (nAChR) receptors form a family of acetylcholine-activated ion channels. Functional receptors contain five subunits and there are numerous receptor subtypes. Studies have shown that certain nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are involved in learning and memory. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of the alpha7 subtype are predominant in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. |
