titleOfInvention Vhc serine protease inhibitors derived from macrocyclic prolines
abstract Compounds of the formula I or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, esters or prodrugs thereof: which inhibit the activity of serine proteases, in particular the activity of the NS3-NS4A protease of hepatitis C virus (HCV). Consequently, the compounds of the present invention interfere with the life cycle of the hepatitis C virus and are also useful as antiviral agents. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds mentioned for administration to a subject suffering from an HCV infection. Methods of treating an HCV infection in a subject, by administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compounds of the present invention.
