titleOfInvention Microbial composition used to reduce the incidence of diarrhea and improve the physiological performance of calves and their method of treatment
abstract The present invention relates to a microbial composition comprising an effective inoculum to decrease diarrhea and increase the body weight of farm animals, particularly Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus. In particular, the present invention relates to a composite microbial inoculum composition. by a combination of two or more of the ruminal microorganisms of the following species Fibrobacter succinogenes, Ruminococcus flavefaciens, Streptococcus bovis, Prevotella bryantii and Butytrivibrio fibrisolvens. The ruminal microorganisms have been deposited with the Colombian Agricultural Corporation (CORPOICA and Bioindustrial Center of Bioindustry (CBB), Bogotá, Colombia on October 10, 2005, under accession numbers B10106, B10088, B60001, B20120 and B90001. In a particularly preferred way, the composition comprises the five ruminal microorganisms mentioned in a concentration of 10³ to 10 CFU / mL.The composition of microb inoculum iano can preferably be adapted for proper administration; for example, in tablet or powder, liquid or gel and can be administered directly, in milk feed detergent or in any other type of solid or liquid food. The invention additionally relates to an optimal culture medium for Inoculant growth at the preferred concentration of 10³ to 10 CFU / mL. The microbial inoculum of the present invention stimulates the development of the rumen of young calves through the production and effect of the fermentation products of structural and soluble carbohydrates of the diet. The three metabolites, mainly produced by the action of the microbial inoculant object of protection are: butyrate, succinate and propionate. Its immune system modulating effect (eliciting the production of IgG), derives from its unique wall and cell membrane characteristics. Finally, it is an objective of the present invention to provide a treatment method, which is not a therapeutic method, to increase the body development and an alternative in the prophylactic treatment of diarrhea in Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus. To this end, an effective dose of the microbial inoculant object of this invention is supplied to the animal at birth, daily during the first week of life and then monthly for 5 more months or daily during the first month of life of the animal and then weekly for the next 5 months.
