abstract 1. A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula (II) wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or alkylthio of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R2 it is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or alkylthio of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R1 and R2 together form a functional group of the formula - (CH2) n-, where n is an integer from 3 to 5; R3 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 6 atoms carbon, alkylthio of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, phenyl or benzyl; and X is chlorine or bromine, comprising the step of reacting a compound of the formula where R1, R2 and R3 are as defined above, or a salt thereof, with oxalyl chloride or oxalyl bromide.
