titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AMINO SUBSTITUTED ALCOHOLS
abstract 1.- A process for the preparation of a substituted amino alcohol of the formula HO- (CH2) n-NR1R2 wherein R1 and R2 are each independently H or C1-C3 alkyl; or R1 and R2 when optionally taken together with the nitrogen atom which is each attached form a saturated 4- to 6-membered heterocyclic ring having 1-2 nitrogen atoms and 0-1 oxygen atoms or 0-1 atoms sulfur, and optionally substituted with R3; n is an integer from 2 to 7; R3 is C1-C3 alkyl; which comprises the reaction of an alcohol of the formula HO- (CH2) n-X, where X is Cl, Br or I, with an NHR1R2 amine in water as a solvent in a temperature range of about 20 ° C to about 90 ° C.
