titleOfInvention METHODS FOR THE PREPARATION, ISOLATION AND PURIFICATION OF EPOTILONE B AND CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURES OF X-RAYS OF EPOTILE NA
abstract 1. A procedure for the isolation of epothilone B from an epothilone-producing microorganism, characterized in that it comprises the steps that consist of: (a) fermenting a strain of the epothilone-producing microorganism in the presence of a resin that absorbs the epothilone B through a hydrophobic interaction; (b) collecting the resin in a water-based medium; (c) extracting the resin with a solvent selected to extract epothilone B and separating it from the water-based medium; and (d) crystallize the epothilone B from the extraction phase before a chromatography step. 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the crystallized epothilone B of step (d) is substantially pure. The process according to claim 1, characterized in that the resin is extracted with a polar solvent. 4. The process according to claim 1, characterized in that the fermentation step further comprises feeding an additive capable of improving the amount of epothilone. B produced compared to the amount of epothilone A produced.
