titleOfInvention | COMPOSITION OF AQUEOUS BATH ACID CHLORITE FOR NIPPLES AND METHOD TO REDUCE MICROBIAL POPULATIONS IN A DAIRY ANIMAL NIPPLE |
abstract | A composition for the treatment of mastitis, physically and chemically stable, containing an acidulant part and a chlorite part and that can effectively reduce microbial populations when in contact with the surface of a nipple and for a period prolonged, which comprises: a) an acifulant part comprising organic ingredients, which in turn comprise: i) approximately 0.1 to 15 parts by weight of a weak antimicrobial acid, or of a salt thereof, or of mixtures thereof; ii) 0.1 to 15 parts by weight of a weak organic or inorganic acid, or of salts thereof, or of mixtures thereof, an acid chosen from the group consisting of phosphoric acid or acid lactic; and iii) a higher proportion of water; and b) a chlorite part, substantially free of an organic component, which consists essentially of an alkali metal chlorite salt, and in which the composition has an adhesion promoting rheology to immobilize the composition on the nipple surface and constitutes a barrier against environmental contamination.A method of reducing microbial populations in a dairy animal teat with a teat dip, and introducing an antimicrobial barrier load onto the dairy animal, which comprises the formation of a composition for the treatment of mastitis, by combining: a) an acidifying part comprising organic ingredients, which comprise: i) 0.1 to 15 parts by weight of an antimicrobial hydrocarbon sulfonic acid, or a salt thereof, or of mixtures thereof; ... |
