abstract | A herbicidal composition comprising (i) N- (3,4-dichlorophenyl) propanamide, known as propanil (ii) a compound of formula R1 O X | || || Y - N - C - CH2S - P - OR3 | OR2 (I) where R1 is alkyl, alkoxy, cycloalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl or alkoxyalkyl, R2 and R3 are each independently alkyl, cycloalkyl or together with the oxygen atoms to which they are attached, form a five or six membered heterocyclic ring containing the phosphorus atom, X is an oxygen or a sulfur atom; yY is phenyl or phenyl substituted with up to three substituents independently selected from halogen, nitro, cyano, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, and haloalkoxy atoms; or corresponds to thienyl substituted with up to two substituents independently selected from halogen and alkyl atoms; and (iii) an agronomically acceptable carrier vehicle, wherein the relative ratio of the amount of a compound of formula I ranges from 64 to 4 parts by weight of propanil to one part by weight of the compound of formula I. |
