An IV Access Device |
abstract |
An IV access device may include a needle hub incorporating a flashback chamber. A flashback chamber can be used to provide confirmation of proper placement of the catheter in the vein. The flashback chamber may include a channel-defining structure to facilitate identification of continuous blood flow into the flashback chamber. The flashback chamber can also be removed from the hub. In some cases, the hub may include a paddle handle that facilitates catheter insertion and detachment of the hub from the catheter adapter. The IV access device provides a second confirmation of proper placement of the catheter without requiring blood to flow into the extension tube. |
