Graphite nanotubes comprising tubular fullerenes (often referred to as "buckytubes") and fibrils functionalized by chemical substitution are used as solid supports in electrochemiluminescent assays. The graphite nanotubes were chemically modified with functional group biomolecules before being used in assays. The combination of the electrochemiluminescent ruthenium complexes and the nanotubes modified by the functional group biomolecules allows the detection of various molecules including nucleic acids, antigens, enzymes and enzyme substrates in various formats. |
