abstract The present invention discloses a method for forming an ion-conducting polymer composite interlayer in a solid-state battery. The present disclosure provides methods for forming ion-conducting polymer composite interlayers. The method may include forming a precursor layer between the first surface of the electroactive material layer and the first surface of the solid electrolyte layer and converting the precursor layer into an ion-conducting polymer composite interlayer. At least one of the electroactive material layer or the solid state electrolyte may contain lithium. The first surface of the electroactive material layer and the first surface of the solid electrolyte layer may be substantially parallel. The precursor layer may comprise one or more fluoropolymers comprising carbon and fluorine. The ion-conducting polymer composite layer may have an ionic conductivity of greater than or equal to about 1.0×10 −8 S·cm −1 to less than or equal to about 1.0 S·cm −1 and may include fluorine embedded in a carbonaceous matrix Lithium.
