The present invention describes novel cells, stacked modules and systems for use as i) a liquid phase electrochemical reformer (ECR) for capturing carbonaceous species in ionically conducting liquid electrolytes and producing hydrogen; ii) carbon capture and Reuse (CCR) cells that use hydrogen and/or heat and/or electricity to decarbonize an ion-conducting electrolyte, resulting in the evolution of oxygen at one electrode and the evolution of hydrocarbons or oxygenated hydrocarbons at the other; iii) fuel cells; iv) integrating ECR/CCR stacks, modules and systems; and v) integrating ECR/fuel cell/CCR modules and systems. |
