Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) |
abstract |
The present invention describes a system for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The system includes an introducer needle having an elongated body. The introducer needle is configured to create an opening in a patient's tongue for implantation of a lead for the treatment of OSA. One or more conductive regions are located on the elongated body. The medical device is configured to deliver stimulation signals to the tongue of the patient via the introducer needle through the one or more conductive regions to stimulate one or more points of motion of the anterior processus muscles within the tongue of the patient . |
