Described herein are methods of treating muscular dystrophy in a subject comprising using a systemic route of administration and administering the recombinant AAV vector AAVrh74.tMCK at a dose of from about 1.0×10 12 vg/kg to about 5.0×10 15 vg/kg .hSCGA. Also disclosed are methods of expressing an alpha-sarcoglycan gene in a cell or subject in need thereof, reducing serum CK levels, and increasing alpha-sarcoglycan-positive fibers in muscle tissue of the subject. |
