abstract |
A method for preparing a saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid having 3-5 carbon atoms by oxidizing the corresponding aldehyde with oxygen, wherein (a) converts the corresponding aldehyde to obtain a mixture containing the saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid and the corresponding aldehyde of ≤2 mol % with respect to the saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, (b) in the liquid phase the mixture obtained in step (a) is at 80- Heat treatment at a temperature of 250° C. and a pressure of 0.1-2MPa abs for 0.25-100 hours, and (c) distilling the mixture obtained in step (b) in a distiller to obtain a distillate containing ≥ 90 wt. % distillate of the saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid and having an active oxygen content of 0-25 ppm by weight. |
