The invention discloses a two-dimensional transition metal single-atom catalyst. The catalyst uses a TiN/TiC heterostructure material as a carrier, and the transition metal single atoms are uniformly dispersed on the surface of the TiN/TiC. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the above-mentioned two-dimensional transition metal single-atom catalyst and its application in a lithium-sulfur battery. In the invention, the TiN/TiC heterostructure material is used as the carrier, the single metal atoms are uniformly dispersed on the surface of the carrier TiN/TiC, the loading amount of the single metal atom (tungsten) on the surface of the carrier can reach 4.5%, and the metal single atom is significantly improved.
