Fibrin-rich/soft clot mechanical thrombectomy device |
abstract |
The present invention discloses designs for devices capable of removing both firm and soft clots from body blood vessels, which designs may have a double layer with an inner expandable body of the unit extending within an outer expandable cage of the unit . The design can be characterized by a constrained delivery configuration and an expanded deployment configuration. The outer cage may have wide open struts to allow the clot to be incorporated into the device. Both the inner body and the outer cage can be configured to have a shape that grips the clot and embeds the clot therein. The device also enables a portion of the outer cage to be folded and inverted proximally after engagement with the target clot to place the clot inside. These factors can enhance the ability of the device to capture clots of all components, allowing for safer and more efficient flow restoration. |
