abstract | The invention relates to traditional Chinese medicine extracts, in particular to the application of a total flavonoid extract of mulberry leaves in the preparation of medicines for preventing and treating cerebral ischemia. The experimental study of the present invention found that pre-administration of total flavonoids from mulberry leaves for 7 days can effectively improve the behavioral score of mice with cerebral ischemia injury, reduce the volume of cerebral infarction in mice with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and reduce serum MDA. The content of total flavonoids from mulberry leaves at high dose (50 mg/kg) and low dose (25 mg/kg) in preventing cerebral ischemia were similar to those from ginkgo leaves (198 mg/kg), and the dose of total flavonoids was smaller. The total flavonoids of mulberry leaves described in the invention can be used as effective components in the prevention and treatment of cerebral ischemic apoplexy, thereby expanding the new application of mulberry leaves.
