The exemplary fluorescence imaging control system can direct (802) the illumination source to illuminate the scene with fluorescent excitation illumination configured to excite fluorophores present at the scene; and direct (804) the imaging device to detect a response by the fluorophore to the scene. Fluorescence excitation is the fluorescence emitted by excitation of a fluorophore by illumination. The fluorescence imaging control system can determine (806) the lifetime of the fluorescence based on the detected fluorescence. The fluorescence imaging control system can determine (808) the identity of the fluorophore based on the determined lifetime of the fluorescence. |
