abstract The subject of this invention is to provide the optical anisotropic layer which suppresses the generation|occurence|production of haze and is excellent in winding adaptability, and the optical film which has an optical anisotropy layer, a polarizing plate, and an image display apparatus. The optically anisotropic layer of the present invention is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable liquid crystal composition containing a polymerizable liquid crystal compound. In the optically anisotropic layer, each of the three-dimensional surface roughness data is obtained by Fourier transformation. When the amplitude value of wavelength is set to L, the amplitude value L of wavelength 5.0 μm or more is 0.125 or more, and the amplitude value L of wavelength 2.0 to 2.5 μm is 0.025 or less.
