abstract A method for stabilizing and isolating multiple biological targets contained in a cell-containing body fluid, the method comprising (A) contacting the cell-containing body fluid with a stabilization composition comprising one or more of the following stabilizers: (a) at least one primary, secondary or tertiary amide, (b) at least one poly(oxyethylene) polymer, and/or (c) at least one apoptosis inhibitor, thereby providing a stabilized cell-containing body fluid sample (B) storing the stabilized cell-containing body fluid sample for a stabilization period; and (C) processing the stabilized cell-containing body fluid sample to enrich from the stabilized cell-containing body fluid for three or more selected from the group consisting of The biological targets of: ‑cellular subpopulations, ‑extracellular nucleic acids, ‑extracellular vesicles and ‑intracellular nucleic acids. The present method is advantageous and enables multimodal analysis of different biological targets from a single stabilized cell-containing body fluid sample.
