titleOfInvention | Sunflower discs improve atherosclerosis |
abstract | The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-atherosclerotic effect of sunflower disc and its related mechanisms. High-fat diet for 24 weeks resulted in severe atherosclerosis in the aorta of C57BL background mice deficient in apolipoprotein E (Apoe ‑/‑ ) throughout the course of the aorta. H&E and Oil Red O staining showed severe plaques in the aortic intima, which were observed by sunflower The intervention of the discs attenuated the degree of atherosclerotic lesions induced by high-fat diet. Data show that HAL attenuates atherosclerosis by regulating lipids, inhibiting oxidative stress, modulating gut microbiota, reducing gut permeability, and inhibiting inflammatory responses. This study found that sunflower discs reduce the inflammatory response of atherosclerosis by modulating gut microbiota and reducing gut permeability. Our findings provide new insights into the role and mechanism of the anti-atherosclerotic potential of sunflower discs. |
