Systems and modules for nucleic acid amplification testing |
abstract |
Systems for nucleic acid amplification testing are provided. The system includes a consumable augmentation module and a reader module for receiving the augmentation module. The amplification module includes: a reactor vessel for containing a test sample; heating including a heater element in thermal contact with the reactor vessel and controllably adding heat to the reactor vessel for heating the test sample a temperature sensor for determining the temperature of at least one of the heater element and the test sample; and a heat sink or heat spreader in thermal contact with the heater. The reader module includes means for selectively controlling the heater element between an on state and an off state in response to the determined temperature of the heater element and/or the test sample. a heater controller; and an electrical heater interface for connecting the heater controller and the heater. The system includes a heat sink for removing heat from the reactor vessel in order to cool the test sample. The amplification module may include the heat sink. The receiver module may include the heat sink and thermal interface, and the amplification module may include the heat spreader in thermal contact with the thermal interface. |
