abstract This article describes safe drug storage. A smart latch includes an actuator, a communication interface, a display, and a processor. The actuator is configured to open and close the latch to lock the door of the housing. The processor may be configured to receive user credentials for accessing the housing, verify the user credentials for accessing the housing, trigger the actuator to open the latch, thereby allowing the door to be opened, and trigger the trigger after detecting that the door is closed. The actuator closes the latch, thereby locking the door.
